VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT

  1. Library Guard (3 Year Contract)

Reports To:

Chief Library Assistant

Purpose of the Role:

To ensure the safety, security, and orderly conduct of all users and library resources within the university library.

Key Responsibilities

  • Key Duties and Responsibilities
  • -Open and close the library according to official times.
  • -Monitor all entrances and exits to the library.
  • -Welcome and screen library users on entry and exit.
  • -Check incoming and outgoing materials for unauthorized removal.
  • -Patrol library floors and facilities to maintain a secure environment.
  • -Supervise safety and compliance with library rules.
  • -Report security incidents, vandalism, or suspicious activities.
  • -Assist in emergency procedures, including basic fire safety protocols.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Minimum Qualifications and Experience
  • Malawi School Certificate of Education (MSCE) or equivalent qualification.
  • At least 1 year of experience working in a security-related environment (academic/library setting preferred).
  • Certificate or training in security services is an added advantage.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work shifts, including evenings and weekends.
