A faith-based institution committed to excellence in higher education since 2014
A private higher education institution established in 2014 but duly registered in 2017. It became fully operational in January 2018. It is a faith-based institution located at the Blantyre Mission in Hetherwick house and HHI premises at the Church of Central African Presbyterian (CCAP) head offices in Blantyre.
The institution is a tuition provider, examining and qualification awarding body.
The comprehensive educational mission that defines our institution
To provide education and courses of study in the fields of Education, Special Needs Education, Social Sciences and Applied Sciences, Theological and Biblical Studies, Commercial and Entrepreneurial Studies and in such other fields of learning as may from time to time be decided upon by the University of Blantyre Synod.
To encourage research and consultancy in the said branches of knowledge and learning and to organize, encourage and stimulate postgraduate studies in such branches.

Governance structure according to the Statutes of the University
The University of Blantyre Synod is governed by the Church of Central Africa Presbyterian (CCAP) Synod of Blantyre through the Board of Trustees and the University Council constituted according to the Statutes of the University.
The Board of Trustees shall be the custodian of the university representing the CCAP Synod of Blantyre. The Board of trustees will serve as a policy making body, which policies will be implemented by university administration hired for this purpose.
The Synod shall appoint the Chancellor of the university. He/she shall be the ceremonial head of the university and represent the university to the Malawi Government.
The University Council is the governing body which shall have custody of the Common Seal and be responsible for the exercise of the University's powers and determination of policies.
The University shall have the following Officers
The Vice Chancellor, who shall be the Chief Executive Officer of the University whose tenure shall be at least 3 years and shall hold a minimum qualification of PhD or equivalent from a recognized institution.
The Registrar who shall be the principal administrative officer.
The University shall also have a Librarian, qualified academic staff members and other Officers as deemed necessary by the Council.
