About Rev. Dr. Humphreys Frackson Zgambo
Rev, Dr. Humphreys Frackson Zgambo is the Outgoing Chancellor of the University of Blantyre Synod (UBS), a role he assumed in 2023 following his election as Moderator of the CCAP Blantyre Synod. He is a distinguished church leader, theologian, educator, and scholar with over three decades of experience in ministry, theological education, and academic research.
Ordained in 1989, Dr. Zgambo has faithfully served in numerous congregations and presbyteries across Malawi, demonstrating exceptional leadership, pastoral care, and administrative skill. He has held several key positions including Dean and Head of the Faculty of Theology at UBS, Moderator of Blantyre City Presbytery, and Presbytery Clerk in various districts.
Dr. Zgambo holds a Doctor of Philosophy in Church Polity from North-West University in South Africa, a Master of Theology from Fort Hare University, and a Licentiate in Systematic Theology from Zomba Theo- logical College. His academic focus is in systematic theology, with research interests in church governance, ecclesiology, church-state relations, and eco-theology. He is also an accomplished author, having published widely on topics such as ethnicity in the church, the role of the state in religious matters, and theological approaches to climate change and gender justice.
He serves on the editorial boards of academic journals including the Pharos Journal of Theology and Theologia Viatorum, and is a supervisor and examiner for postgraduate theology students. His academic contributions have earned him multiple international awards and recognition for excellence in theological research and publishing.
