About Mrs. Margret Judith Thandiwe Longwe
Mrs. Margaret Judith Thandiwe Longwe is a highly accomplished administrator and finance expert with more than 30 years of progressive experience in Malawi’s higher education and non-governmental sectors. She currently serves as the University Registrar, bringing a wealth of knowledge in institutional governance, financial management, human resources, and strategic leadership.
Her career began at the University of Malawi’s Chancellor College, where she served as College Finance Officer for over a decade, before advancing to senior positions including Finance and Administration Manager at CARD, Senior Assistant Internal Auditor at the University of Malawi, and later College Registrar at both The Polytechnic and the College of Medicine. She also served as Technical Assistant to the University Registrar at Mzuzu University, providing key support to high-level academic and administrative committees.
Mrs. Longwe holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from the Management College of Southern Africa, a Bachelor of Commerce in Accountancy, and a Diploma in Business Studies from the University of Malawi. Her strong leadership has not only enhanced institutional systems but has also contributed to effective resource utilization, staff development, and student support services.
In addition to her professional roles, she has contributed to national development through board service in organizations such as CONGOMA, YONECO, CRECCOM, and Scripture Union Malawi, among others. She is also a multilingual professional fluent in English and Chichewa, with working knowledge of Tonga and Tumbuka.
Mrs. Longwe is widely respected for her integrity, dedication, and commitment to excellence in university administration.
